Home Tuition- How do I start it on my Child?
This is a question that many parents have been asking and with a good reason at that. It is a question that draws a lot of attention and at such deserves a meaningful answer. There are various ways of beginning home tuition for your kid.
For one, you should start by collection books about home tuition from your other members of the family, friends, local library, bookstores and whichever other places you can lay your hand on quality homeschooling books from. Though this is a great way to start your kid on home tuition, it leads to more questions; how do I know what books to gather? Did I get the right books for my child's age? Is everything needed covered? These questions demand for a perfect answer.
For the parents like me who have been home schooling my kids for ages, I started by using the method described above. The method is time consuming but very effective. I started the home tuition process when our oldest child was three years old, so I had enough time before she reached school age to figure it out. I read tonnes of books, went to conferences and talked with loads of people on home tuition to prepare me on to starting home tuition for my kids. Looking back, I wouldn't say it was all that smooth running. I would not suggest this method as my top recommendation, rather if you have preschool children, I would suggest that you find someone you can trust and who has gone through homeschooling before you to guide you.
There are home tuition groups, friend's acquaintances that are not far from you and there can provide you with some better information about home schooling than doing it all alone. These people will offer you with all the information that you need to start your kid on home tuition path. The internet is also another source you should not forget. It is full of personal experiences from parents who have been doing it for years. You will find helpful folks who are very ready to help and it is much convenient than moving all over asking for assistance or answers. A Site like HSLDA.org will be of great help to give you a positive start.
The best method of starting your child off is to start teaching where they are and keep learning as you progress from stage to stage. It a good idea to get yourself a qualified mentor who you will be asking questions, seeking advice and information on how, what partials to your child home tuition. By the time your kid is old enough to join kindergarten, you will be confident in what you need to do and where you are heading too. If your children are already of school age and you need a crash course, I would still suggest one thing; find a mentor who will guide you. This will save you a lot of time, effort as well as your sanity. The mentor will always point you towards some proven resources and methods they themselves have used.
